Mat-based pilates
Join my welcoming classes in Hastings & St Leonards! Beginner or advanced, you’ll enjoy classical mat pilates with a modern twist to keep your practice fun and fresh.
Your teacher
I don’t just teach Pilates; I live it. It's kept my own back issues in check (hello L5). I hold the YMCA Level 3 Diploma and constantly update my training to bring you the latest contemporary techniques.I love to blend that classical discipline with a modern, energetic twist. My goal? Effective Mat Pilates that ensures you walk out feeling taller, stronger, and smilier than when you walked in.
"With Sarah's help I've become trimmer, toned and more relaxed. When I first started I wasn't able to do many of the positions, but now I can't imagine ever not doing Pilates."

Do I need any experience to join a class?
Not at all. Most of our sessions are multi-level, meaning I provide modifications for every exercise. Whether you are looking for beginner Pilates in Hastings or you are already experienced, you can work at a pace that feels right for your body. Note: Friday Flow is best suited for those with some prior Pilates experience.
Will Mat Pilates help with my posture and back strength?
Yes. Our classes are specifically designed to strengthen your core, which is the foundation for better posture and spinal support. If you are currently managing a health condition, you are very welcome to get in touch. I can help you understand whether you are ready for a group class, if you would benefit more from a 1:1 session, or if I should redirect you to a local specialist teacher who would be more suitable for your needs.
What is the difference between Mat Pilates and Reformer?
While Reformer uses machines, Mat Pilates uses your own body weight and sometimes optional ankle and wrist weights for added resistance. It is often considered more challenging as you have to control your own stability. It is a fantastic way to build functional strength and is especially helpful for those wanting to learn moves they can practice at home.
What do I need to bring to class?
West Hill: Please bring your own mat (though I do bring spares just in case!).Isabel Blackman Centre Studio & The Humble Hub: High-quality mats are provided for you.All Venues: Bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothing you can move in.
How do I book a class?
You can book directly through the links on this website or by searching for "Pilates by Sarah T" on the Gymcatch website. For the best experience on your phone, I recommend downloading the Gymcatch App. If you run into any technical issues, please feel free to get in touch with me directly or read this Gymcatch support article.
How do I buy and use a Class Pass?
Class Passes offer the best value and can be purchased directly through the Gymcatch app. Once you have bought a 5-class or 10-class bundle, the credits sit in your account. You can then book your preferred Pilates classes in Hastings or St Leonards and your pass will be applied automatically at checkout.
What are your booking and cancellation terms?
To keep classes fair and accessible for everyone, I operate a 24-hour cancellation policy.Cancellations: If you cancel your spot via Gymcatch with more than 24 hours' notice, your class credit will be returned to your account.Late Cancellations: Cancellations made within 24 hours of the class start time, or "no-shows," are non-refundable.
Why do you say your classes are welcoming and fun?
Because I believe exercise shouldn't be a chore! While we take the movement seriously, we don’t take ourselves too seriously. My classes are full of local people of all ages and abilities who support one another. We work hard, we focus on our technique, but we also have a laugh along the way. You’ll find a community that is inclusive, encouraging, and – most importantly – happy to see you on the mat.
